Overview

ExpirySight helps users identify expiry and best-before dates printed on food products. This policy explains how the app accesses and handles information.

Camera access

ExpirySight requires camera access to scan expiry and best-before dates. Camera access is used only for scanning features that depend on viewing product labels and is used for no other purpose.

The scanner is designed to process camera frames on the device used. There is no uploading or storing scanned product images.

Camera access can be revoked at any time through your device settings.

Information we do not require

ExpirySight does not require an account to use the scanner.

• No name is required to scan.
• No phone number is required to scan.
• No location permission is required.
• No contacts permission is required.
• No microphone permission is required.
• No photo-library permission is required for the scanner.
• No advertising profile is created from scanning activity.

On-device processing

ExpirySight is designed to perform image analysis and text recognition locally on the user's device for its scanning features.

The iOS version uses Apple device frameworks and local scanning components. The Android version uses Android device components and on-device text-recognition components.

Support information

If you use the support form, we may receive the information you choose to submit, such as your name, email address, platform, and message.

Support information is used to respond to requests, troubleshoot problems, and improve the reliability of ExpirySight. Do not submit sensitive personal information unless it is necessary to explain the issue.

Third-party platforms

ExpirySight may be distributed through Apple and Google services. Those companies may independently process information related to app downloads, installation, diagnostics, or other platform services according to their own privacy policies.

The service used to deliver the support form may process information that you voluntarily submit through that form.

Data sharing and sale

We do not sell personal information obtained through ExpirySight. We do not share scanned camera images, detected expiry dates, or scanning activity with advertisers or data brokers.

Retention and deletion

Because the scanner does not require an account and is not designed to upload scanned camera images or detected dates to servers operated by us, we generally do not maintain scanner data associated with individual users.

Information voluntarily submitted through support may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to the request and maintain appropriate support records.

You can request deletion of support information through the support page.

Security

ExpirySight is designed to minimize unnecessary data collection. No electronic system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but safeguards are used for information handled through the app and support process.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when ExpirySight features, data practices, or legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
